In Cinemas Christmas Day

In Cinemas Christmas Day

And so it dawns on us this day, this day of reckoning, that the most prized and rare of treasures is bestowed upon us. I speak of course, of the simply fantastic trailer, for the newest Guy Ritchie / Robert Downey Jr. film, Sherlock Holmes.

I’ve considered myself a holmsian fan for a few years. I read my first Holmes novel when I was 11, I have a complete collection of Sir A.C. Doyle’s work, own many of the film and television adaptations, and seem to be only one of two people at nonstandard who pick up on the subtle (and not so subtle) nods to Holmes in the series HOUSE MD.

So you can imagine my jubilation at seeing one of my favourite actors, portray one of my favourite characters, in a film by one of my favourite directors, in a trailer for what I imagine will become one of my favourite films.

The Sherlock Holmes press release from Warner Bros states as follows; In a dynamic new portrayal of Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous characters, Sherlock Holmes sends Holmes and his stalwart partner Watson on their latest challenge. Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country.

That’s all for now. Catch you next time!

A quick ‘how you do’ and such to you. Slow times with nss as doing revision and such before exams in a couple of weeks. Have now got my leaver’s sweatshirt with the nickname ‘iJustin’ (also my Twitter account for those who wish to know: http://twitter.com/ijustin).

No videos will be published until after we’ve finished our exams. So expect some more out on the interwebs around the end of June.

All for now. I leave you with my mandatory videos of the moment.

Catch you next time.

Things I presently lack:

  1. Health: After going through 2 weeks of nerve pain, and with the prospect of a third operation, the last thing I really wanted to do today was to be sick – not once, not twice, not even three times, but a glorious four times. My body hates me and everyone around it evidently
  2. Hard-drive space exceeding 10MB: I appear to have used up all the HDD space I have in my house with video raw footage, Photoshop edits, system back-ups, work and iTunes purchases. If that doesn’t sound too impressive, consider this – I have approximately 5TB of storage in my room. Sounding slightly more impressive now? So the purchasing of a couple of new 1TB external drives has taken place.
  3. Time: Only 1 week until I leave sixth form, 3 weeks to my first exam, one month until my prom, and a mere 3 and a half months to my nineteenth birthday.

I’ve been told by my friends to stop procrastinating. I told them I would later on.

All for now. Catch you next time.

So being the pure genius person I am, I went off to go see Star Trek again today, and I can assure you, it was fell worth it. I alughed just as much, and squirmed at the geekieness in all the same place as before. If possible, I think my smile was even bigger than last time upon seeing the Enterprise for the first time in the film again.

I’ve since acquired the OST for the film, and it really makes you realise how little actual music is played, and how reliant on ambience and atmospheric sound Abrams made the film. A huge kudos to him, Michael Girancchino and all the sound directors, editors and producers.

But as a result of a partiular song on the album, I’ve now got a head spinning with what I can film to the music that will look good. Unfrotuantely, I have neither the time nor the people to do what I have in mind, so I’ve resorted to animating a short flash cartoon. Sure you’ll at least some of it soon.

That’s all for now – once again a short update. But be sure to checkout the main site, the other blogs and see Star Trek at your local cinema.

Catch you next time.
